Buying a car from NSW to come to QLD

Post by Red Rover »

Who has done this? I am buying another car from NSW. Does anyone know what the process is or have done it before. I am sure he will fill in the transfer papers and then when I get back to qld i take the transfer papers and qld safty certificate, which i will have to get done, and they will trasfer it across. It has a long range tank and a turbo so I would imagine it would need a qld mod plate which isn't a problem. Once I have transferred it I can get a refund in the NSW rego. I have done a revs check etc.

Buying a car interstae is new to me but if anyone has done it I would be interested in your thoughts. I fly down a pick it up next week

Cheers Greg

You take the old plates, the roadworthy and the reciept and an application to the DOT and they charge you a rego fee and stamp duty and off you go.

You don't really need the NSW transfer papers but it saves signing a stat dec at QT. A detailed receipt is the most important thing. You have to get the refund of the NSW rego at a RTA which is a pain in the arse.
