GU ute suspension ideas
GU ute suspension ideas
Im looking for a suspension setup for my GU coil ute. At the moment its standard, and i know its been done a lot of times before so just wondering what setups/brands people have used and been happy with. My old gu i had 4" king coil, ranchos, snake panhards etc, want something with a little more flex, still at about the same height though. The ute gets used is my DD and will be carting a couple hundred kilo of tools around a fair bit,so it cant be too wild. Budget is set at about 2500 max. 4wd wise, bit of rockcrawling, touring, beach everythin really so its gotta have manners. I was thinkin 3-4" springs, shocks undecided, superior superflex arms, rear long arm kit, panhards etc....... any ideas? Or retailers wth kits

Also whos done a superior long arm rear setup?
some good info here.
As far as the front end goes, there are only 3 real options than can use the full potentional of longer shocks, the superior flex arms, an x-link or the usually unwanted 5link. and for the rear get a set of long -arms for it, as this will help soooooooo many of the small problems first and give you a good basis for any further mods. That would be the first things to fix, at least then you will never have to go back and change them!!nayto wrote:thanks for the replies all, gubeaut, yeh my previous setup scrubbed on the tray in the rear aswell, didnt bother me much though, the rears sweet, just the front in mainly wondering about, drop boxes, drop arms, or superior arms? After a heap of testing on the front of nissans, different springs to drop boxs to 3 different brands of drop arms, we got pretty much the same result. the std bush position configuration could not get any more than 140mm of differential measured at the shock mounting position!! ( actually one brand of drop arms was so badly designed that it was just about binding on the diff tube in the std position allowing no room for flex). So that is why i made the effort to design a better setup!! so far vehicles running these have had podium finishes in every event they have entered.
The long arm rear is the 1 best single mod you can do for a nissan!! it fixes that nasty pinion roll that they get at full flex, and reduces the bad body roll the lifted rigs get when powering-on around corners. and they are strong, so no chance of bending rear arms and snapping off the pinion which is all to common.!!!!!

it's my DD also so keeping it fairly mild. with this and F&R lockers wouldn't be much a DD couldn't drive.
