so i blew up my patrol a few days ago, and i finnaly decided i should buy a toyota (always bin a toyota man, just the troll came up cheap...).
so i was looking thru the caryards 2day and i came across a 85 4runner, back in the days b4 they farked them up and put an independent front end under them. took it for a drive and the 2.4 diesel felt about as i expected, not as much pull as the 3.3 im used to, but enough for to keep me happy.
i did 'think' i noticed a bit of a noise from the front end under power at the lights, but only in 1st gear and only for a moment of so. CV prehaps??
there is a bit of rust in the bottom of the tailgate, but nothing abit of bog wont fix up, and upon looking underneath it apears to have rarely, if ever, gone offroad, no marks on the diffs or the bashplate on the fuel tank, nothing.
what sorta price would one expect for it? and what else should i keep an eye out for?
cheers
Macca

$3000 if that, the old 4runners aren't worth much... I've had trouble flogging my 86 4runner for $3000 (been trying for 5 months now) and it has barely any rust, recently reconditioned engine etc.
I suggest if you're going to pick up a yota with the amount of money you have to spend, look for a 2.8 TD lux, don't bother with the 4runner.
