Middy Windscreen!!

Post by Gav75 »

G'Day All,

I have a 1986 BJ 73 TD Cruiser with a rusty windscreen panel. Recently, when on a trip, a truck threw up some rocks and made a mess of the windscreen. Cracked it big time. Since the panel is rusty and the windscreen is stuffed I want to replace both of them. Dont want that rust spreading.

I found this on ebay. Says its for a cruiser ute 84 - 97 with a bolt in frame.
I know my frame bolts in but it also folds down cause the its got the removable FRP top.

Do you reckon it will fit my middy?

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah Muss its not cheap. Its brand new outs the box tho. I might look around at the wreckers but dunno if I'll have much luck as this is probsbly the first spot to rust out on cruisers. Fiberglass is not an option as i've heard they can crack and warp.

Cheers Midi and Muss

Hey RustyNuts,

Have you got a fiberglass one in yours or know of anyone with one? I've heard good and bad things about them. Like warping and cracking. Do you have any fisrt had experience with them?

Cheers

From what I hear the fibreglass one never seem to fit properly, but that is only hearsay. You will want to check the top of your firewall/cowl where the windscreen surround bolts on as well when you remove the surround. They tend to rust there as well. If you try the wreckers you may get a good surround with a windscreen in it. Try 4x4 parts Australia 0732054377 they ship oz wide, I think.

I have had no problems with the fiberglass frame in mine. They fit fine from memory the only issue i had was the top bolts in the corner of the door frame. It has been on for 2 years now
