giday all i have an idea that feroza owners may be interested in and others all so.
id like a few thoughts on the subject which is
feroza body swapped onto a rugger/rocky chassis.
keeping the 2.8 diesel or putting a bigger badder engine in its place.
was thinking that this would be an easy cheap cheat way to get a solid front axle and more power out of one of these trucks.
keeping standard diffs till hilux ones could be afforded
after a few quick measurements i carried out i think the fez body would damn near bolt straight on with only a few of the mounts needing to be changed to suit.
what do you guys think of that as an idea,
im going to go a head and try it some time within the next year or so

IF you can get the parts at the right price then why not try it ?

nope i plan for it to be road legal. form the few quick measurments i took of the chassis the front mounts will have to be changed the rears appear to be fine the rest im not to sure on. both vehicles are the same lenght at an approximate measure.
all engineering work will be done by and approved welder and i will build it in close conjuction with a certifier.
as for minor details these would be what brakes, fuel lines, wiring etc?

on a separate note but following the same lines i have seen an old 70 something wagon put on a hj cruiser chassis and a falcon ute on a hilux chassis both of these are road legal so there is hope lol

Im in the middle on FEROZAing my rocky.
The power windows bolted straight in and the door trims fit.I think the doors would bolt straight on.
The power mirrors bolt on and the rocky had the harness there with the right plugs.The control switch in the roza console fits in 1 of factory holes in the dash with the harness there when i pushed out the blank.
Got a 96 roza dash and had the tach converted to 6cyl.The plugs are the same but some on the terminals are in different places(Ive just worked out how to get the wire and pin out of the plug to move them).Will even be able to hook the commodore ecu up to the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
Now you guys have got my thinking

it would just be a matter of hooking everything off the rocky that is needed up to the correct parts on the fez i have tracked down a couple of rocky's over here one has been writen off but i think the motor is still good, the other was one that was drowned which i will use for the chassis brakes etc. failing that i have me offroader which i can just revert the chassis back to near standard/road leagal form which i dont really want to do.

What about the roza TRANS tunnels is it big enough or will you do the bodymounts/lift to fit.
A rocky box/tranfer is about 5 time bigger the a roza and youre still got no ratio options

the new piglet is a feroza cab,cut into a ute then mounted on a scat chassis, pics on pg2 of piglet racing show the new body going on the chassis..
we suspended the body over the chassis & only 1 of the body mounts lined up so we cut off & re fabed the rest as MM said there is a lot of little shity extra things that keep on poping up,,,try not to let them give you the shits...

But my point is if you are aiming to get a feroza with solid front and a 2.8... Why not just get a rocky and LEAVE the rocky body on it? My question is what is the advantage of having the Roza body on the rocky chassis instead of a rocky body on a rocky chassis?

Fair enough... I wasn't sure if there was some substantial advantage that I hadn't thought of...
But yeah, the rocky shape is a little tall for it's width but I don't mind the hardtop ones instead of the resin ones that pop up that little bit extra.

the one advantage although only slight would be the center of gravity being slightly lower than the rocky. plus it would have the cool factor that all the other standard roza's haven't got lol i'll be leaving mine full cab i wont be turning it into a single cab though. thats another project for when i have more time and money lol

Im running aftermarket alloys on mine that have a slightly different offset tha has widened my track around 70mm from the stock f300, warrent time next week, will be interesting to see if they bleat about it, the tyres are in the guards,, *just* .. spent last weekend puting the swaybar back on and cranking down the suspension to factory hieght so's i dont get pinged and end up having to cert the bloodly thing.
