i find this whole topic very interesting as i have sold parts to people and all but 1 were happy,it was a gearbox too and he said it was full of water and parts inside broken.
I would of been more than happy to refund his money but his had the box rebuilt and contacted me 3 months later.
I believe his mechanic told him it was shagged to get extra time and money to do his v8 conversion as this guy was known to rip off young inexperienced clients wanting conversions done to their lux.
I say before you buy any part secondhand(especially privately) do your research and realise the part is secondhand .

There seems to be a few different perspectives emurging here, as an outers group, mates rates with mates warrenty is up there....i believe there is a lot better chance you will get a good part from a fellow lister than off a wrecker.
Warrenty from a wrecker usually means swap the part for something else you dont need, no money back...and the purchase price more than covers their admin costs to put it back on the shelf....unless things have changed in that department, and they by law need to give a refund...but then, what has subsequently happened to the purchase price??
Tony, i wrapped the radiator up in cotton wool bringing it up to Nissan Trials for you...even doing that, i cant guarantee it liked the ride more than i can guarantee it liked the ride home in your boot and storage at your place for the last 3 months, it had been used in my petrol turbo cruiser and swapped out as a means of working out why the motor was getting warm...thermistat was jammed and was the problem, but as you state, we will see if your decision to buy second hand off me proves to be a good or bad one. I recall you mentioning the water stain back then, and i cant remember exactly where it was on the rad, but it was not from a leak it had.
All this aside, i recommend if you want to talk about it with me, you start off not saying...YOU RIPOFF,SEND MY MONEY BACK, AND AFTER THE DUST SETTLES, I MAY HELP A COURIER PICK IT UP FOR YOU...
