ANOTHER 2 DOOR BUILD UP

Post by boggerbrad37 »

Just finished stage 2 of my brother in laws Rangie. Here it is when it arrived at my house. It came with a high mount and bar as well.
Image
First step was to remove the 3.5 running on 7 cylinders and pull the front off the four speed and replace the primary pinion bearing. Noisy in 1st 2nd and third but quiet in fourth.
Image
In went King springs ond OME shocks. These are 80 series front shocks next too the standard.
Image
The rear are GQ rears witha pin to eye adapter i made.
Image
The dislocate cones are series2 Disco front shock towers. Turned upside down, cut off and weled in. Can make them removable as well.
Image
Here it is. End of Stage 1. Off to get road worthy and put in his name.
Image
Here it is at the end of Stage 2. Body lift, 50mm Snorkle i made. Lifted front bar. second hand 4 door flares.Had to modify the rear ones a little, 35 inch road tyres
Image
Hre is the rear bar i made. Cut off rear quarters. I put LED lights in his, something i might add to mine.
Image
Stage 3 will be Off road tyres. rear locker and a bull bar like i made for mine.
Image
Sage 3 might be a while off he just broke his heel bone into 4 peices. He is in hospital now and has not even seen it yet. At least 15 weeks before he can even drive/ use it. Thats gotta hurt more than the heel.

ok if ya spring dislocates there is no pressure forcing it on to the ground.no pressure means stuff all grip, just a spring that bangs around all the time. may look good for the video but thats about it.get longer springs keep pressure on the ground..

True mopar rangie. I have a test area near my house that really twists up the suspension. Use to go their to see if there was room to clear the new tyres i brought. With no lockers engaged as soon as the rear wheel left the ground the car would stop moving forward(slow speed). With longer shocks and + 4 inch springs that were dislocted the car would keep moving forward (no locker engaged). Wheel and tyre weigh 56 kilos. Any wheel on the ground is better i think than a wheel in the air. Locker or no locker.

Hi Mick. Just getting the new panels organized. Hopefully done by the end of the month.Your car is looking great. Must have too much time on your hands. Wait till you have a couple of kids, might slow you down a bit. Got no where to put them now! lol

Nice rangies!

Do you have to extend the rear bump stops to run the GQ rear shocks? ie will the shock bottom before the bump stop compresses a bit on full compression if you dont?

Would you say that the pin to eye adaptor takes some stress of the shock when its flexing, compared to a std shock?

On mine i raised the top shock mount and kicked it out alittle. Also extended the bump stops. On the blue one i have added an extra inch to the bump stop only. Will test it out later when he can start driving it. Never broken an adapter yet. I also run rear Gq shocks in the front of mine with a series 2 shock tower. Extended bump stops only on the front.
