Hi all.

I must be searching on the wrong stuff cause I cant find a thread on this. I just bought a sierra with a dead battery. She goes from a jump start, but not on her own. So I?m just chasing some info on electrical type stuff. I?d like to know how other people have solved their power problems, and guidance would be appreciated.

Eventually I?d like to be running a fridge, stereo, spotties, camping lights & a winch. I don?t know the power consumption of these yet (cause I don?t have them), but I usually drive every day when I go camping. So keeping the batteries charged shouldn?t be too much of an issue.

I?m interested in a dual battery setup, but there isn?t much room under the bonnet. I?m also interested in a bigger alternator, my way of thinking is that with smaller batteries (to fit under the hood) I wont need to drive as much to keep them charged.

Any info / experience / knowledge in this area would be great. Also, what is the biggest or best primary and secondary battery people have managed to squeeze in?

I used the europeans style batteries as the battery terminals sit lower , I made an angle iron frame for tyhe second battery , Cheers Paul.

Hey jono, there is a heap of info on duel battery setups and alternators swaps on here... just search alternator swap in suzuki section and it should come up...Most people are going either a swift alternator or EL ford 110 or 100amp alternators. I've got 100 amp EL alternator and Exide extreme 550cca battery and it runs two sets of 150w spottys, winch, stereo, uhf, gps easily.

Most people go cranking battery as primary..fit biggest cca one you can...and then a deep cycle as secondary prob around 100Ah will do the trick for a fridge. I was goign to put in a dual battery setup but don't run a fridge so i don't want another 10kgs of weigh in the car...its already heavy enough with bar, winch, and 34" swampers....

Optima batteries are the ducks guts but you'll pay for them...
