There was a guy in melbourne called John Bennett who was building water pump impellers and testing cavitation and flow 10 years ago, he was over tullamarine way and had a nifty cooling system modifier as well, there is a head shop called all head services that adopted a lot of his theories, some better than others.

Other problems could be:

Rust in the system.

No top water in the spare tank.

low water in the system.

Glycol % too high in the system or not mixed up with enough water.

Joel - A couple of my mates run one of his systems on their Chevs. It uses a high flow pump to circulate operating temp water through the system and used a thermostat to bleed in cooled water to maintain correct temp. The boys rated it highly. Wally (80UTE) off here is one of them.
