hey all, just wondering who has done what to their zooks, so they can carry bigger size spares?? i have have a 1991 hard top sierra, and i'm wanting to carry a 32" as a spare :)

I think if you search there has been a previous thread, but anyway

This is the one i made, it swings out on a pivot on drivers side, its pretty much been finished for a while, but i have discovered i need to make some kind of latching device to stop it swinging once opened.

I,ll post pics when I can but basicly holden stub axle welded into custom bumper with machined down hub for the pivot. Latched with gate latch (I think) from ivesco.

Why do you need a full sized spare? I'd be running a 6.00X16 or 7.00X16 on a 4.5" sierra rim, on the back door. The weight of the spare and carrier is not helpful in a sierra, let alone the hassle of building it.
