60 Thermostat

Post by RED »

My 60 series thermostat has just stopped workin. My mate's borrowing the car and he said it stopped the other day. He's had a look under the bonnet and said there's about 20mm wire coming from the thermo housing but nothing after that. Is that what i need to reconnect?

Cheers

It's most likely what you need to reconnect or replace. It certainly won't be one of the wires that's already hooked up properly.

Gauge i assume. Temp sender is in the thermostat housing IIRC.

RED, by rights the thermostat is actually a mechanical valve inside the thermostat housing.

If it's the same as my HJ75, the wire should lead from the sender on the thermostat housing down to a plug tucked in somewhere behind the alternator. Hook that up and you should be away.

I remembered there's also a (temp?) sender in the top of the head - anybody know what the score is with that one?

Temp gauge sender is in the thermostat as Doghead mentioed.
There is a 2 pin sender in the rear or middle of the head (depending on the model) for the Glow circuit, so the relay knows how long to stay on for (so to speak).
