Ive been 4wd less for quite some time now and as of recent fell into a small amount of $ so the missus and myself set out to get a paj and an 80 series, what we have ended up with is a 4runner and the impulse buy.... 97 2.7td terrano ti, its got 180000ks on the clock, brand new bfg a/t's, roof racks, bullbar, old man emu suspension with air bags in the rear and appears to be absolutely babied since the second it was purchased. Still practically looks brand spankers. I saw it in a car yard and couldnt help myself. The 4runner is for bushbashing and the terrano is just for mild camp trips and general driving around (shopping trolley). Thing is, I know absolutely nothing about terranos, it just looked too good to leave behind and I managed to talk the dealer down a fair bit, got it for $11300 drive away, transfers and all paid.
Sooo, have I made a mistake or are these lil suckers a good thing?

Jabber gone. Now have 98 nissan terrano and a 94 4.2ldiesel rv troopy on 33s slowly getting the fancy bits. How the hell do I change my user name?
Hey,
I have one of those white elephant cars. Parts are a bit of a hassle, 2 weeks on anything that has to be imported from Japan. In saying that though I did a radiator hose out past golburn in NSW and had one the next day by 2pm so parts can be found. I had problems with one of my injectors leaking diesel, but other than that no problems.
The oil filters are a hard to get to and doing a change without making a mess is very hard. You will find you probably have to take the fuel filter off and push it aside to get a good enough angle to get the oil filter out.
Check the srew points for the fake wood trim dash as they can split.
Air flow can be a problem. Mine is ok at the moment, but if I get flush with cash I will replace it anyway. There is an bosch part number on the airflow meter. Get it as it is about half the price of a genuine nissan one and still come in at just under $500.
They make cargo barriers for them.
Most seem to have a problem with running warm. my temp guage goes up and down like a whores panties some days so be aware but not alarmed. As mine goes up but stops and cools down immediately. But unless you know what the gauge is measuring, you don't know if there is really something wrong.
Sunnies with a positive 10mm offset fit fine, most 31's will fit with possibly only a tiny bit of rubbing on the front when turning.
Some companies also make chips for them.
Good flex in the rear running a patrol diff. (someone posted all the different nissan diffs somewhere in here)
Other than that I think thats it.
Thanks
PS: give it a bloody good wash, take off all the door trims and wet them again, take of rear wheel carrier etc....I have found these places to hide a rediculous amount of rust producing material!
