Very strange problems

Post by macklux83 »

Hi all,
after replacing my 2L ive been having problems starting it, yesterday it ran and idled for a minute or so then when revved it died.
today it will not run at all no matter how much it is cranked over, ive had a mechanic look at it and he cant figure it out.
What we have found so far is-
The primer pump is not getting any pressure up.
There is a small amount of fuel coming out of the injectors when cranking the engine.
We sprayed it with plenty of aerostart and it still wouldn't run.

The only thing i can think of is that i used my original wiring loom and just had my plug swapped over to suit this fuel pump as i believe the engine may have come out of a surf so it had slightly different plugs.
Because of this there were a couple of wires that have not been used, including a plug and bracket that ran from the glow plug rail and bolted onto the block.

If anybody could give me some suggestions on what these wires are for or how the wiring on a surf engine might vary to that on a standard 2L would be great as we are really stumped.
cheers

run a jumper straight from battery + to one of your glow plugs for 5 seconds they try. If no joy there it will be a fuel block or shortage. Make sure the gauze filter on the inlet of the primer pump is clean (inside the fitting)
