Hi all, My sierra now has a baleno 1.6 in it, All is running good except for a little 1sec kick of no power yesterday, 1 today and then on the freeway doin 110 overtaking lane had to pull over because the no power part (just idling) went for about 15 seconds!! Not good!!

* The vss wire isnt connected yet...
* The fuel tank was full...But isnt reading full...
* And she still has all power when normal?

dirty battery connections? does it happen when going hard or bumps or anytime noticeble?

also check your fuel pump connections. mine were playing up once like that.

I had something similar cause my battery terminals were very close to the bonnet (700cca battery) and over a bump the chassis would flex and the terminal would short out on the bonnet lol. Nothing a bit of rubber couldn't fix. Lucky it didn't start a fire though.

thats wat im thinking, its a 2nd hand vitara efi pump in a coily tank and a new filter.

Yeh, I am running VL pump. Check your connections to the pump with multimeter & make sure its getting power before you get a new one. May just be wiring not getting good eart/connection when the car starts vibrating.

Does it do this only at speed/offroad

has never done it offroad.

* 1st time, thought it was low petrol,odometer was 230kms cos the vitarapump doesnt go down to the bottom of the coily tank, i was accelarating to 70km/h, kinda hard.

* 2nd time, thought was low petrol again cos it had the same kms (230) wen the 1st time stuffed up. i was driving round a slight bend at 50km/h

* 3rd time doing 110... prob 130km/h round a slight bend full tank

Fuel Pump Relay - check this first, a lot cheaper then a fuel pump

did you lift your foot off the acelerator? even slightly, did a bump in the road allow your foot to move off ?

remember that the throttle position sensor will cut the injectors if you lift your foot, this is to stop the car for over fueling and back firing.

my jimny has this problem, if you lift you foot after a long time at the same position then the enginge dies ( well it actually goes to idle) but it feels like it has died when you are traveling at speed.
to cure the problem i just lift my foot right off and put it back down and the car will take off.

however my sierra wouldn't "fire" the injectors the other day and it was the throttle sensor playing up, gave it a "jiggle" and then it went fine.

so before you look too closely at you fuel dilivery system check your sensors and the plugs and wires.

ok yeah 130 in a sierra pretty hectic but u get used to it. Like your signature "dad" Keen pilot... Ok. Im using the baleno stock relays, i will let it go till i feel it again. when i was on 130 my foot didnt back off the accelerator, just constant pedal. but it lasted about 15 seconds no power, just idol

it doesn't take much movement, but if the car dropped to idle then i'd look at the throttle sensor first.
