I have a pair of Hella Rallye 1000s (100 watts) on my Nissan Silvia... :D
Very nice round light, which doesn't take up too much space... Nice bright, and white. I'm sure there are better, but I have had a good run out of Hella, so I stick with them.
Cost around $130 each.

Ive got a pair of Cibie Super Oscars that I picked up at a garage sale for $100 the pair. Also got the pair that was on there before, rubber work light shells fitted with GE mining 100w spot/spread sealed beams. These are going to find their way onto a roofbar, as soon as I get my finger out.
Biggest hassle I have is breaking mounts with the weights of the Cibies.

Im now looking at lightforce 140's, the 170's are too big for my bullbar the mounts are really close together.
There is not many good 4wd shops that stock lights around here, most of them want to sell u their junk. :?
The set I have in mind are $280. 100w 140's? cheapest so far from f&m spares.

I have Cibie Oscar SC lights on mine and I reckon they are the greatest thing, they have 600 metre range and 30m spread per light in the driving series, also all the beam is made by the reflector so they stil work if the lens is broken.

Really clear and bright lights!

140's are 75 watt and cannot be fitted with 100 watt without voiding warranty due to heat issues. all lightforce lights feature a goretex breather meaning they can be sumbmerged without fear.

Don't forget about some of the cheaper brands. Lightforce are virtually indestructible, but if your not a hardcore off roader who travels over corrugated roads 24/7 then something cheaper might do the job?

I saw a driving light review a while back and Narva Ultimates actually won for overall light output. And that was over the equivalent sized Lightforces, plus all the other well known brands were in the test.

Something to think about as the money saved could be spent on other mods.

So if I get light force I have too get the 140's as the 170's won't fit on my stupid bullbar (brackets are really close oo )
* AVGAS is $280 for the 140's about rrp?
SOOO! AVGAS BABY U WORK FOR LIGHTFORCE CAN I BE YOUR FRIEND?? hehehe

is there enough room between the uprights to space the lights apart a bit so you can fit the 170s?

Maybe you could bolt a bit of flat steel bar (or even right angle for more strength) across the two mounting points and extend it wider than the current mounting points. The just drill new mounting holes in the new bit of steel and space them wherever you want.

It may work? The 170's would definitley be worth fitting over the 140's going by the specs Lightforce have on their website.

I don't think they'll look funny- I recently swapped from some old large Narvas that came on mine to some newer smaller ones I had lying around. It took a bit of getting used to, but in my case the new smaller ones are actually better at night.

This is what I was thinking of. Now you just need to get some 240s on to the top of the bar and use the 140s with filters for peripheral lighting

Better get a bigger alternator too!

Make sure you get lock nuts for your Lightforce lights so some low life doesn't knock them off, and engrave your drivers licence number or car rego on them. ;)
