noises...

Post by SimplyPV »

ok i'm hearing some pretty strange stuff commin out of my roza an i'm getting a little worried... first sound... only happens when i acclerate or decelerate an make a quick, tight turn at the same time, when i do this, i hear this loud pop below me... i thought it was maybe my exhaust hitting my driveshaft or something of the sort but i dont find any scuff marks or anything. second noise... since i had my head rebuilt... when the engine warms up, i hear this tapping sound every time i cruise from roughly 30-on... it doesnt seem to speed up too badly at high revs.. but the sound is there.. an its getting me worried.... also forgot to mention the oil leak... it seems i have an oil leak... i jus cant find out where! i dont see no paths of leakage or puddles gathering wheni park... but it seems i'm having to add a quart of oil for every 1-2 weeks... really irratiting. any help would be apperciated! thx

OK... it seems your car is possessed. To avoid Christine type behaviour and general carnage I suggest you contact your nearest Catholic Priest and perform an exorcism.

Thing to remember is to not be in the vacinity when the car spews it's green coolant all over the priest.... it stings the eyes.

I have no idea about the first one but could it be that you have the torsion bars wound up too high and your shocks are trying to rip themselves apart?

The second could be your lifters. What grade oil did you put in when you did the head? Try a thicker grade. That could also be why you are going through so much oil... thinner oil generally burns quicker that thicker grade.

Thats my 2 cents worth.

Check your gaps..could just be pinging, try high octane fuel.

Other noise...could be brake pads rattlin round, they are supposed to have clips to hold them in place which always fall off and cost a fortune from Toyota....

Could also be clutch/gearbox related...

my feroza goes through a lot of oil too. I have the smallest oil leak that doesn't even drip so its not coming from there, and it doesn't blow blue or white smoke, so i don't know...

I think it's funny how people try to explain a sound , being unable to actually make the sound for all to hear , it's like asking how long is a piece of string :D :D :D

sounds like marcos too.. could just be sligh driveshaft movement where they meet the front diff.. I can replicate the same sound by hand

if your engine is 100k+ KM old, then you need to start looking at using thicker oils as the rings start to get tired and you might be burning the oil.. and as you havent found any leaks, this is pretty much what its pointing to.

As for the tapping sound, sounds like lifters?

I too have been hearing noises in the motor but have just started using optimax fuel and the noise has stopped so i think it may be pinging :)

Is the noise like a klunking noise from the front suspension, if so it might pay to get ya ball joints checked
