hilux 2.7 ifs exhaust mod, does heat affect transfer case

After just finishing a balljoint spacer and diff lowering mod I was unable to fit the front drive shaft to the front diff due to the exhaust . I have had the exhaust re routed to travel further along the rhs of the vehicle along side of the transfer case and up and over the rear tailshaft.
Would the heat from the exhaust affect the transfer case , should i fit a heat shield between the exhaust and transfer ? Your thoughts? Does the transfer normally run hot ?

mate the transfer is full of gears and generates heat, hense why you cant tough the oil if ya drop it after a long run.. i personally wouldnt worry about it unless there is any rubber plugs or what have ya on it that you think may be subject to melting, i no on mine my zorst is close and no dramas have been had for a few years..

You shouldnt have to lower your diff as a result of ball joint spacers. I used to run 1.5" ones but after 18 months got tired of the poor alignment and uneven tire wear and shaved them down to 1" with a bit of torsion bar crank to get close to the same lift as before and am much happier with the alignment. With 1.5" spacers you'll never get the right caster and camber with the stock alignment cams.

Your passengers might not like the exhaust running so close under their feet. Maybe get some heat shielding material and stick it to the body above the exhaust?

The ball joint spacers are 1 inch and diff spacers to reduce the angle of the cvs .The exhaust runs under the drivers side (petrol ) until past the transfer case.
