Had a ball at Son of Trials... nearly wiped out Oscar
Jessie and I decided to see how far we could push the X-90... stuff the easy way
We took left-hand run down the rut on Stage 3 to hug the wall, and the bum lifted a little. We drove forward a bit more... came up a bit more on the right rear corner. Braked... then went a little further... and Oscar's arse came up and dived down on the front left corner...
Throughout it Jessie was... "hoooooold it..... stop..... hoooold it.... stop....
.... DRIIIIIIIIVE IIIIIT!!!!!
Slammed own the loud pedal and launched then bounced out of it
Two guys that were watching said they were getting ready to dive onto the rear bar to grab us if they had to... thanks guys
Whilst SOT is entry level, we showed a few people that Oscar wasn't just for show... redlined and bounced our way through Stage 1
Not bad for two chicks in a SWB, IFS X-90 with the lockers out of action

DRS smells like a cat-food milkshake... and wet socks... and gorgonzola cheese... all whizzed up in a blender
Matt got some of the nose dive and a couple of us 'Tigger-hopping' up the rhs climb on track one... I won't really see them until tommorrow when I get into work...oozuk wrote:got any pic's of u at the event ?
... did anyone else get shots of us in the X90?
Anyone know who the two guys in the black Sierra were? They were just going mental trying to break speed records on the track. Out of nowhere you'd hear.. brrrrrrp brrrrrp brrrrrpp... then they'd launch out of track

You'll more than likely see them on the website, magazine space will be dedicated to the other competitors... and rightly so, there were some awesome drives on the weekend
Small pic (waiting to see which ones we are using before grabbing any others).

Still waiting on final results but... WE WON A GARMIN GPS!!!
.... uh... <cough>... because we got lost the most
Just looking at the pics of the nose dive, we miscalculated the lhs lip by about an inch, should have gone left a fraction more and it would have grabbed... fark... we were lucky
Gotta get a solid front end under this thing, and either tub the rear end or hack it off... anyone heard anything about that dude in the states that put a rear Vit axle under the front? I know it was a shitload of work, but I want to stay pure-Zook with the '90.
Would Jimny axles fit????
Update:
On that note... this is the first time I've owned an auto... what friggin 'gear' is best for what? I was told to switch off the over drive... then to select Low 1... then someone else said low two... what gives, especially with Calmini gearing..
On that note, I've just been told that of everyone who completed all tracks... we got last... cause we keep taking wrong turns
Considering Jess was also doing in-cab filming... that's understandable
Hell... we ran a SWB, IFS X-90 (a national first in comp) against LWB GU's, LandCruisers and LandRovers in Touring Class (you put Oscar next to a GU or GQ with the allowable 4inches lift running 33's and it's like putting a Dashund up against a Rottweiler), picking the hardest lines where we could - we are proud of that

As to what gear, well that depends on the obstacle doesn't it and don't forget that being an auto you can always change gear if need be....it isn't a manual you know

Sounds like you had a ball squik. I wouldn't be embarassed about it being the first auto you've owned...driving a manual is alot more fun and not everyone can drive a manual.Squik wrote:So, does the box still auto change in low range when in Drive? It seemed to just stick on flat-out and not drop back
Like I said, this is the first auto I've ever owned

I heard that the auto's in vitaras are t700/t350 or something out of the old holdens in which case if it were true you could just get a full manual valve body and turn it into a manual without a clutch. If it were a T700E (electronically shifted) you are limited to altering your shift points via the computor (that's if anyone can tune zook cpu's)
overkill years ago made a front axle up with a vitara rear diff and dana knuckles. but then you've got the costs of custom housing + custom axlesSquik wrote:

Older Vitara 3 speeds are trimatic's with differnt bell housings etc. But the newer ones like in the x-90 are not trimatics, as for upgrade valve bodys etc, i doubt it. But i may be wrong.GRPABT1 wrote:I heard that the auto's in vitaras are t700/t350 or something out of the old holdens in which case if it were true you could just get a full manual valve body and turn it into a manual without a clutch.
