how deep do the oil seals have to go in the front diff there is no edge on wich they stop who can help me

For what model Daihatsu is this for? Is it the pinion shaft seal? My `91 service manual says to drive the new seal to the edge surface using special service tool 09517-87601-000. This tool looks like a piece of pipe of the same diameter as the seal. Maybe a large socket would work. Just drive it STRAIGHT in to the edge surface.

Use a socket, have always used one for mine gives good even distribution of pressure so they go in nice :)
