How far forward can my diff go ?

Post by hulsty »

Does anyone know or have a rough idea on how far forward I can move the diff forward in my FJ73 middy without running into troubles with the steering arms hitting each other or stuff like that ?

Spring lengths are from the the rear pin to diff and then from diff to the front shackle.

Stock 550mm - 590 mm

Current 565mm - 645mm

So as it sits my front diff is 15mm forward and I have no troubles. Was thinking of flipping springs around effectivly moving diff 95mm forward (just under 4''). I can redrill the perches to move it back so its only about 60mm forward. I know i'll also need to do something with the front drivehaft any ideas? or just a spacer?

cheers

i have moved my front diff forward about 130 mm when i did a spring over and shackle reversal. i moved the spring mounts to as far forward as i could leaving just enuff room to mount the bull bar. Im also running a high steer steering. i think you would run into trouble if it was anymore forward. just my two cents hope it helps.
