sierra conversion - g16b swift motor

Post by wildmouse »

Almost finished the motor rebuild, welded oil pick up,
New problem , there are bracing rails bolted to the crankshaft bearing caps, they touch the sump, do I cut out the sump baffles or take off the bracing, too clear ,anyone know about engine rebuilding???
Has anyone came accross this before???
Help appreciated thank you

not going yet ,still waiting on the distrubutor angle drive kit, plus the gearbox is in having tags welded on it.
In the meantime I have rebuilt the motor ,thats taken 4 weeks.
Estimate at least another 20 hours work, mostly on the wiring side of things.
Probably be May before its going, Hope its all worth it,spent 5 hours lapping in the vavles today, vary stressful getting those vavle spring collets back on.
Seen someone in the quokka selling a1600 conversion for $650, by the time I have finished it will have cost me $2000

Are you doing the wiring yourself?? I'm about to start putting a 1.6 16v mpfi in my coilly this week and was wondering about wiring. I've got an auto sparky mate that reckons he can do it (just wired a blown 1UZ-FE in a Hilux) but does anyone sell a complete harness??
