Connecting horn

Post by neil_se »

I need to get my car roadworthy and the horn isn't connected (red airhorn, is that the standard one?). The service manual doesn't have any details on the horn either. Does anyone have pictures or a description on how the horn connects, or where the wire is located on the loom so i can steal a horn from my other car.

Thanks
Neil

This may or may not help my car is a Maruti not a Sierra so it may be different, but in the pic towards the bottom left corner, you can see 2 wire green and blue, they go to the horn (IIRC) they should come out of the loom that goes to the headlight (IIRC)

check for the wires on the drivers side, if they are there just move the horn over to the drivers side, there should be a spare captivated nut there.

If you follow the wires from the back of the right headlights they go down to a loom (buch of wires taped up). There will be 2 other wires coming out with a flat, female terminal on the end with clear rubber sheathing. They are the horn wires. If you need colors let me know and I'll run back out to have a look.

I just went and had a look. Found 2 spare wires but one was a constant voltage and the other did nothing. Could you please get colours or a picture for me because i don't understand how the terminal attaches to the horn either, i may be missing a piece.

The factory horn is just a round disc shape with 2 flat blade terminals off it. About 2" in size (50mm) or there abouts...

Ok it seems the wire from the steering wheel is broken somewhere along its path so i bought a new horn, ran a new wire from the steering wheel and it's all good now.

One issue down, many more to go
