Im looking for some tips of where to buy consumables.
I dont want cheap stuff that wont do a good job - but I dont want top price stuff where I dont need it.
Comsumables in question are
Arc welding Rods. GP 2.5mm and 3.2mm
9 inch grinder cutoff wheels (metal)
The last lot of 3.2mm rods I bought welded well - but cost $25 for 2 KG. I can get cheap rods down to $6 /2Kg. Im not the worlds best welder - so Im assuming the cheap ones would be harder to use and make a crap job ??
With the grinding discs - Im looking for a good long lasting brand at a reasonable price...
FJ's Discount everything in Bayswater has cheap grinding disks. The real cheap ones don't last long but they have a german brand that are a little dearer but last 3 times as long.
They have cheap rods too but they suck. The decent rods are worth the extra dollars.
Bloody IFS bugger who slows down the SAS boys.

Hah, how good is that shop? I love browsing there.
EG:
Satincraft (CIG rods) almost halve the cost per pack if you grab 10 paks !
WIA 16TC rods will cost about 1/3rd less if you buy 5 paks
Cut off wheels are the same, buy a box and the price comes down slightly but buy 10 boxes and they come out to $1 each !...... (normally $3.15 ea @ my local Mitre5)
China imported welding rods are ok as are the Indian rods..... if you can put up with the fumes these rods produce. Worst smoking rods ever !
Same applies to their cut off wheels, they work but are not generally long lasting or 'user friendly'......
And your cry-baby, whinyassed opinion would be.....?
For rods I just get the CIG weld ones, I don't care what the price is as they are pretty cheap in the first place.
For grinding Flexovit disks seem good, use them at work, but I go for months without using a grinder anyway so a 10pk would probably last me 6 months to a year at a guess.
