Nf Pajero, auto changing gear way to late.
hey all,
Im having some trouble with my 4wd,
I went 4wdin on the weekend and iv done something to the gear box
its changing gear sometimes at liek 4500rpm but this dont happen all
the time i have no idea what it is, and yesterday i was driving and it got
stuck in 2nd but i turned it of and after that it drove fine.
Was driving today had no dramas and i just went to take my bros girl
friend home and on the way back i had to fit about 4500rpm before she
changed gear,
could it just need a service or somthing electical has just loosend of, i
cheaked teh tranmation and it has plenty of fluid, is this something serious
or could it be somehting as simple as a loose wire, and its a auto gear box
the stock nf one of you didt no.
Thx wade

maybe the computer shat itself... in my dads 100 series the problem it ahd with the auto was that it wouldnt change down... he would be driving along and then come to a stop and the car would try and take off in the gear he stopped in eg. 3rd.... so go to the mitsubishi dealer and get them to plug the diagnostics computer into it...

A Gregory's Manual is an aftermarket repair manual (like a light-weight service manual.) It looks like Gregory's Manuals are now owned by Hayne's, who make something similar.
http://www.haynes.com.au/category138_1.htm
Most of the larger auto-parts places will sell them, but not every store will stock every manual.
Gregory's Number 508 covers Pajero NA-NG, but it lists as 4 cylinder only, so that may not help. However, the tech info database lists the NF V6 as having the same auto trans as the 4 cylinder (KM148) while later models (NG onwards) have V4AW2 - so the manual will probably still help for this problem, and just about everything non-engine related.
Perhaps you should look for the Hayne's Manual (#68765), which covers NJ-NJ. Last time I was in Repco they had some Hayne's manuals for $40.
Good luck,
Scott

I have the same problem on my NF (to many mud baths)
I have tried the CRC on the cable, but it keeps jamming
Has any replaced the kick down manual, can it be down while the trannie is still the vehicle
The manual I have shows that the auto must be pulled apart to get to the kick down cable. (bottom cover,
