Not sure how to fix please help
Hi all,
I have a 1994 NJ 3lt Pajero lwb, now the problem is ( bear with me ) where the right hand side CV goes into the shaft of the diff it seems to be very loose and is causing the beast to vibe a lot in 2wd when I put it in 4 high it tends to go away but is still there a bit.
Are there any bearings that should be holding it tight ??
Or have I broken something ?

If at first you don't succeed, go faster.
hey mate,
do you have manual front hubs on your paj??
in ifs rigs there is always one wheel driving, in pajero's this is the passenger side because the diff centre is offset to the right instead of the left.. the other side is engaged by a vaccuum line.. this is engaged when you shift into 4 high or low.. your problem may be that it is not fully disengaging when you go from 4 high to 2 high which may cause this rattle.

yeah mate i had the same prob with my 2.8 a while back..
the bearing collapsed and caused massive vibration in 2wd, but 4wd was fine...
i wasnt game enough to pull my front end apart myself so i took it to my local diff shop, and he fixed the bearing and the axle and the washers that had all been destroyed...
$800 later and it was all fixed. i guess you shouldnt keep driving at 110kmh when your front axle bearings are shitting themselves. it causes all sorts of troubles.
all i can suggest is to get it fixed before driving again before something majour happens.
good luck

It is just a sealed bearing (available at any bearing place about $40.00) and seal protecter (only available from mitsubishi about $15.00) on a short axle. The axle comes out the same way as the left hand CV, just take the right hand cv assembly out the usual way just leave the bolts done upto the axle (the axle has the same spring clip on it as the left hand inner CV joint).

i have the exact same problem, i have removed the diff a couple of times and replaced the circlip on the spline twice. Pops out after rocky ground/4wding/etc .... pops out about 5mm to let oil out and water in.
I have spare parts from a spare paj and have changed axels/bearings/oil seal/etc ... still happens so my next step is to remove the diff and replace the actual housing/axel shaft/diff. Only problem i run an auto locker and will have to remove that into the new one - but this has been bugging me for about 8 months now.
Any insight you have had please let me know.
