v6 to trimatic

Post by troopy94 »

im rebuilding my comp zook and am toying with the idea of swapping the turbo 700 auto for a trimatic 3 speed auto a friend told me that it should be a bolt in swap does anyone know if it is possible to run the trimatic behind a vp commo v6 and what would be involved

C4 is the shortest you will find if you still want a decent first gear. And it is possible to adapt this to the Holden V6.

ok sounds like ill have to investigate that option i should be able to find one.The plan is to run twin cases behind the auto i already have those set up its just a case of making it all fit without streching the wheelbase too much :D

Yeh buddy commy v6s r turbo pattern would have to use a turbo 350/400 not really worth mucking around with adapters to trimatic IMO just not as strong when you start using adapter plates :)

i hear what your saying and i do agreee it most likely would be weaker.I like the power of the v6 and the fuel injection works well in steep terrain i just think it would be easier to have a smaller gearbox than to modify the tunnel.

C4 is 11venty times stronger in stock guise than the trimatic, the tri matic is really only good for Geminis & HQ's.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.

No Commodore V6s are not a turbo pattern. They are a Buick Pattern which is totaly different to the V8 Chev and Turbo pattern Holden V8 motors. Although the V6 uses a T700 it is not the same T700 as used in a V8 Commodore. They dont bolt up.

ahh now that would exlain why it didnt look like the turbo 350 i had a look at last night didnt seem right. Its looking like the only way to run the auto and twins is to chop the back off the cab and make it a lwb tray back it just seems a shame to butcher a good swb soft top body
