flashing ecm light on MK Triton (petrol v6)

Post by Hutch »

Hi all,
I have an MK triton 2000 model with the petrol v6 motor.
On a trip on the easter long weekend the ECM (electronic control module) light came on. I eye balled the engine and all sensors and could not see any issue. The book said to "drive on" but take it to a Mitsubishi place to be looked at. It has about 96k on the clock. When it is started the ECM flashes and contiues to flash for about 20km, this happens whether it is cold or hot. I am assuming that it migt be the ECM warning that the timing belt needs replacing?

Has anyone had experience with this? Help greatly apprieciated!
:P
