hi all,
my workmate has a 2000 landrover freelander, she says it s a 4 cylinder
anyway, she says she was going down a hill (on road) and she went from 2nd to 1st, but when she went to change form 1st to 2nd she couldnt as it was "stuck" in 1st...
this is what she told me:
- got stuck in 1st and couldnt change gears
- there was a loud squeeling noise coming from the gearbox/clutch???
- the clutch pedal went hard and she couldnt push it in (it was stuck out)???
she took it to landrover and they pulled the gearbox out and said the throwout bearing had fallin apart and damaged all inside the gearbox - they also quoted her $7100.00 for a reconditioned gearbox supllied and fitted..
that sounds a bit much dont use think or is that normal??
its hard to desrcibr from what she told me but has any of you guys/gals been hit with this kind of problem?
any suggestions on somewhere cheaper to get it fixed?
any info is heaps appreciated everyone
thanks, islandvit

Freelander gearbox/clutch damaged!!!
Moderator: Micka
A bit costly, but have you seen what has to be done to get the clutch out
. Sure its not the slave cylinder, as its a huge job on these. Basically have to pull half the motor, frontend, transcase, gearbox etc... becausae the salve is in the bellhousing, or something like that. I wish her luck
