2.8 diesel hilux with 2.4 turbo fitted

Post by thehanko »

Hi im looking at getting an 89 lux, the guy bought it because it had a really good motor (260k, read good condition, running well) and then has fitted a 2.4 turbo to it. he has offered to have the vehicle dyno tuned before i buy it as it has not been tuned since the turbo was fitted - this was his offer as he said he didnt want to sell a car which might be running on a bad mixture. since he put the turbo on he has bought a much newer car and not finished this project or registered it yet.

the car seems to be in great condition, but im a little concerned about the turbo situation - as long as it comes home from the dyno running well could i assume its ok?

are there any inherant problems fom fitting the toyota 2.4 turbo to the 2.8 engine - im told its a common conversion.

I basically want a cheap work horse.

Thanks

I get the impression 8psi is a more normal boost pressure. does that sound right?

I run 10psi in mine and make 78kw at the wheels. Which I'm pretty happy with seaming they are 33 inch tyres which would take a bit of power away from the reading.
