high range gear ratio for TT 4.9 box

Post by dank »

Might be a stupid question but what is the high range gear ratio in the trail tough 4.9:1 transfer case gear set?

trying to work out how much difference in rpm there will be between my sierra 5spd and a trimatic auto with 1:1 final drive...

thanks

I worked on 16% above stock, which is 1.409, so it comes out at 1.63.

PS the Novak conversions gearing calculator doesn't seem to work properly since they "upgraded" the site.

Gearing will be the same as your car in 4th now.

yeah i just noticed that....thanks

also steve the gearbox is actually one out of a AE71 not a KE70 (which is K series bellhousing) corolla and it is a jatco box that bolts up to 4age not a trimatic apparently. This corolla guru I spoke to said that there weren't trimatics that came out they were jatco boxes...

also confirmed with toyospares as well...hopefully this will work with the vitara output, otherwise can i just use a corolla jackshaft and adapt something out of that?

You can get plenty of good gear for the jatco boxes like shift kits and full maual valve bodies etc, they run them behind VL turbos
