Mongrels- How are they wearing?

Well, now that the mongrel tyres have been out for a while, and a few people from here have been running them, i'd like to know how they have fared over the km's.

how many kays have you done on em? how much on/off road with em? any other comments?

I've got 32 x 10.5s on the Rangie at the moment..
they're a really good tyre, especially considering what you pay for them..
as for wear, yeah, they're wearing pretty bloody rapidly. Also, I've ripped of some of the small inner lugs on sharp, rough, rocky tracks..
other than that they're a bit cut up etc, but nothing tooooo bad..
most of the wear I think is from driving them on the road.

I got some 33 x 12.5s on my step dads 75 series, which is 99% used on a farm, and after a few thousand k's they still look pretty perfect.. but they don't see the beating that mine do.

conclusion: For the price, they're great..

thanks for that flange raider, do you run them all the time on your rangie, or are they just play tires? how many kays do ya reckon you'll get out of em?

I've only got about 2000kms on mine at the moment. They drove from Tvl to Bris fine though. Not even as noisy as I thought they'd be.

Or was it just that I couldn't hear them over the gearbox?

There a bloke down here who runs them and they are wearing quicky and some of the lugs have tare's under them ........... But they are Cheap.....

yeah, they're full time on the car.. when I step up to some JT2s or the like next year they'll just be my on-road tyres.. hehe...
aaah.. well, my odometer is busted, but I'd say I do between 150 and 300 km's per week.. I've had them for about 7 or 8 months I think.. they'll easily last till the end of next year, but tread will be getting low by then, and that's no good for off-road.. but for me, they'll just have to be legal (as I'll be using them on-road only). As for the noise, I find them pretty bloody loud, and I'm used to them.. though, they don't make as much noise as a mate's claws, though they're bigger.. regardless, you've just gotta learn to love the howl, it shows you're not driving around on michelins or something..

well i'm sold on mongrels for when i finally get my 4wd, but how's the road handling for them?
my dad runs motorway broncos, would they handle similar to them?
even tho the broncos are all terrain types, but they're cheese cutters too,
btw ave you heard the mongrels are now in 33x12.5R15,

on road they're ok... I never really push my rangie ON-road.. wouldn't see the point.. it's built for off-road, and the mongrels are great off-road.
as long as the they do the job on-road, perfect..
and yeah, I said in a previous post about the 33s.. they're much nicer than the 32s.. motorway have been trying to release 35" mongrels for years, but that just doesn't seem to be happening..

they arrnt releasing 35" mongrel coz they cant get any carcasses for em
they are goin to begin to import 35" carcasses from america now
therell be a 35" mongrell soon

got my 33s from Pro Comp in Narre Warren..
with 15 x 8 rims, they did a great price, can't remember exactly.

I'm pretty sure they're number is: (03) 9705 6677

I had no power steering for a couple of days when a belt snapped in the rangie..

it wasn't much fun I tell ya!!! but that's probably coz I'm used to power steering.. and wood grain.. and nice scotch.. after all, I drive a Range Rover, remember!

Yeah did the same thing in my car with power steering, its then becomes harder to drive than a car with no power steering to start with, cos it's not made to do that,
my dads troopy has ps and is easier to drive than my brothers car that has no ps, well that was before he wrote it off anyway,
geez now he has taken to driving my car as i dont have a licence yet

my local motorway distributor claims it's too hard to get 33" mongrels in cos they aren't that common, has anyone else had this trouble?
