how far can you go?

was wondering if anyone out there has done any big trips in there zuk
im going back to work at punsand bay 25km north of bamaga cape york
10km from the tip of aus from albury (300km north of melb) ive done the trip for the last 2 years but that was in my 4.2lt patrol
this time i want to do it in my 1lt lwb 1990 maruti am i dreaming or not
i know it will piss it in on the last (and most fun) 1000km from cairns
its just the highway trip to cairns im worried about
motor is in very good nick
any faults or tips would be apriciated as i am all new to these very cool little cars

I am leaving on thursday to go to fraser island in my zook, I have replaced the drivers seat aswell as rebuilt the motor, 6.5 gears 31s made draws new brakes every thing that i could do i have done.
Massive trip for the zook, but easy and slow not to break anything

i drove from brisbane to bundy than to fraser over christmas and the trip was ok. seat was a problem, so was suspension. but my 1.6 handled it nicely

i did over 700kms in the zook over easter and about half of that was on dirt roads and alot in low range. The seat is a bit uncomfy but mine has colapsed on the drivers side.
1999 SQ625 Manual Grand Vitara. Lifted, Twin Locked, 31' Extremes, dual Batteries, Winch.
Lots of custom gear as I cant afford the proper stuff.

I drove from Sydney to Maitland once. Blew a Uni on the rear shaft about 5km's from home, suddenly the rest of the trip didn't seem quite so bad. :lol:

i think mw lil zook would have to hold the record !!!
1 trip....from melb. -Adelaide-marree-cooper pedy-ayers rock-alice-Mt isa-cairns-brisbane-sydney-melb. , all with a trailer !

another trip , all the way from Melb -cape york & back !!

another trip , melb-inaminka-coonjee lakes-flinders ranges-melb. !!

been to robe a few times as well !!!

Sounds good.
Big worry off my mind, especially after hearing about the distances Moose has travelled :)
Got the loud stereo and comfy seats. Wouldn't mind putting 31s on, but I'll see how I go!
Think the biggest thing is taking it easy...
I think one of the best things is all the money we'll save on fuel!!

dont be so sure on saving fuel... a fully loaded zuk doing 110 isnt the most efficient =) hehe it'd take longer, but 80 is a far better speed.

if you can , get the rear diff strengthened B4 you hit all the corrigations !!!
broke my diff clean in half , 30k,s shy of coen !!! :?
