New winch pack
Saw this pack - http://www.thiswotidonow.com/syntheticwinch.htm
and was impressed. This guy has been round for over 2 years that I know of, and no-one else offers a winch with plasma.
It's not comp stuff, but for play it should be fine.

Looks like a quality winch sold at a realistic price. I bought a motor off him a few months ago for my lowmount. Good service, good price and motor works well.

I dont get it?
It's just another cheap shit Chinese winch. It'll be at least as bad as the rest of them.
Also look at the weight of it: 23kg. A Warn 12000 weighs 62kg!!
Also note, like many Chinese efforts, the gearbox is not rotateable, so forget about it fitting in many bars (and if it does go in, dont count on using the freespool lever)
Throw the winch away and keep the plasma.

G'day and welcome to OL.tigerz11 wrote:i wanted to reply to the fellow about the weight of the 12000lb winch 23kgs
cable nearly 11kgs failead roller 4 kgs,,,thus theweight drop
warns 12000lb they are not able to make the 12000lb low mount
there biggest lowmount is 9500 which weighs 42kgs
synthetic rope 1.2kgs
hawsefilead is aliminimum
Technically the Warn 12,000lb is a low mount but they use a larger gearbox thus requiring larger physical space to mount the winch. I agree is probably not a fair comparison regarding weight, but if your winch is a genuine 12,000lb puller (depends on motor power, gear ration and cable/rope strength) in the same package size as a Warn 9x00lb then it's definately worth a mention.
Also, as mentioned above, is your gearbox able to be rotated to various positions for clutch lever access?

Just a thought, entirely up to you but maybe you could pull one of your winches down and post up some pics of internals, etc for the enquiring minds.
We all love pics of things pulled apart and will get you some good exposure.
But be aware, there are always the die hard "brand name" supporters who will try and have a go a everything so make sure you bring your thick skin.
If your product stands up to the claims and looks to be well made, you might get more support for your brand.

Average joe dosen't care what's inside a winch but most people here would be interested in seeing brake assembly, gearbox gears, inside motor, etc. Helps to break down some of the "chinese crap" stigma ...

There are numerous differences between the Ironman winches and the others. They also ofer a 3 year warrenty, but to all of their customers.
Not many winch companies have a solenoid box like this:
By the way, your winches do look quite good as well.

ironman
I'm with Johnno - You cant possibly compare Ironman to the evreyday chinese winch and if you do then you lose ground with me big time. The ironman is truly waterproof, well engineered and finished - they also have a long warranty and ironman will still be there in years to come to back the warranty and after sales support.
Maybe the Tiger has a good winch but until I have seen a few stripped on a bench and then seen them drag dead asse rigs up steep hills I dont think I could say 1 is better than another but alas that is his sales pitch. I need better convincing than being told by Tiger they are better.
Time for a winch off Dudes .....

This tigerz winch is identical to one I bought recently labeled 4x4point (obviously generic chinese winch) $525 delivered with wire rope.
this thing is definitely NOT going to be waterproof straight out of the box, solenoids not a chance in hell of staying dry!( Damm you GUJohnnno!! Now I want an Ironman solenoid box )
as for rotating the gearbox, I looked at this and it cant be rotated 90 or 180 deg. the spacing of screws gives some odd orientation (can rotate it in something like 24 or 25 degree incraments)
Ive used it once and I would definitely say it is slow compared to others.
Seems to be fairly well made and for the price I reckon it is good value, the amount of use I will give it, I couldnt justify the price of a warn.

i just had a look at there winch its slow because the gear ratio is
Gear reduction ratio :265:1,,thats why its slow ,,187:1 would have helped you, thats the one we sell ?
i can not pot the winch we sell and i dont pot the winch ironman sell they are both made in china by 2 blokes that were in partneship together but had a falling out,,but i do know that the engineer for the winch company that supplys us ,is the inventive one that they copy
regards paul

Alrightie.... Gloves off time..
Lets have a winch off in my front paddock.
Tiger vs Ironman vs anything else chinese...
The winner goes through to round 2 and up against a warn.
That winner goes through to round 3 up against a comp winch.
Shall we set a date? Hmm next weekend is Navrun after dark - what about the Sunday after at 12 hi-noon April 20th.
What we need is some volunteers with said winches.
Will be testing speed and strength and a panel of experts (need them too) to comment on build quality, finish, friendliness to fit and apparent water resistance.
Volunteers, panel and witnesses please ... Rudi will get the hangman's noose ready in the tree.
Address is 1300 Frankston Flinders Rd Somerville (Melb) - I shall put on a BBQ - BYO drinks.
No one succeeds by knocking the opposition - they succeed by being the best and there is only one way to see who is best.

Dear tigerz11
I normal stay out of these types of discussion, but
I am the person behind the Ironman winch. If you would like some information, please ask, do not assume. I do the engineering work and testing. I have been working on the development of this winch over the last 3 years. I can assure you that no one else in Australia has our winch. Other companies that sell winches that you think are the same are probably doing there own thing. In the past we have supplied some winches to other distributors, but they were not they same spec as our winch. I spend much time overseas working in the factories. I find it strange you need to almost slander another winch to sell yours.
You probably need to research a little further into who supply's who, as your information is incorrect and out of date.
Our winch is a great product at excellent value. There are many good winches on the market, Warn is the benchmark.
We have sold over 5000 winches in over 90 coutries, each year, over the last 3 year and continue to grow.
All the very best

What type of bearing do these motors run?
What is the duty cycle?
Whats with the ratio, 2.1?
Has the rope been Nato tested?
I've got a chinese waterpump with the copy of a Honda engine stating it is 6.5HP when Honda states 5.5HP for the same size motor.
Are they doing the same with this motor, overating it (6.6HP)?
Hobzee get hold of one of those hand held laser temperature readers to check motor temp.
I think you can hire them if nobody has one avail.

Ah yes - good call - temp is important - Having done testing we could workshop a discussion on what makes a good winch and how we can make them better - such as breathers and blowing air through them.
