Why not just turbo the Lux
Dee wrote:and it already has a LSD in the rear stick an auto locker up front for a few hundred bucks instead of over $2000 for airlockers front & rear..
Autolockers suck and there is no way you can compare an LSD to an airlocker
However i do agree that the Patrols are a good vehicle, i would get either that or the Lux if you want a ute.
80 Series are good if you don't mind driving a bus That was for you Whitenight Just too much panel to damage for me; decent for touring though with all that room.
2nd one is fairly clean. pitty about the petrol. do not buy a 2.4 petrol as they are as slow as the diesel but crap economy. i ised to flog my mates 22r in a straight line drag with my diesel. id have it all over him by 3rd gear. all of 30km/h hahah

have you considered a GQ patrol?
can pick up a wagon converted to an extra cab, or a single cab ute for around that money.
gotta love coils front and rear

cos, i still wont be able to cruise the highway at 130k/h.
im pretty well torn between the 2, cos i went for a 4b on the weekend and wouldve incurred some serious panel damage if i was in a wagon rather than a ute. but driving 8 hours in the lux strugglin to keep up with the convoy sux balls.

sorry for the highjack
130Km/H Tell your fuktard convoy mates to slow down
130 in a fourby and you wonder why we clean up cars
Mine will do that speed just not uphill; had to test it but it is not the sort of speed i would do with traffic on the road or in a convoy.
7 pound boost non intercooled DTS kit on 2.8 Diesel.
Was running 12 pound but it killed the motor. After the rebuild it is faster at 7 pound than it was at 12
Rebuild had some tweaking to the motor too
yeh times 2... 130km'h no matter where you are in a lifted lux is rather farking stupid. Consiquences if you had to swerve Mine goes alright actually, 2inch system with extractors dosent do much powerwise but coming back from cruiser, not quite loaded, i was overtaking a 100series towing a gu, what a coinsidence and i did it on a small downhill onto the flat, and got her up to 130 on the floor and that was all over the shop, i got prolly 3inches and 32's.. i could only imagine what it would be like in higher. Sic luxs is scary on road
Any news on the truck m8? looked at any in person yet? Cheers.

my trol isnt as issue at up to 140 with 35s on it, 4" lift, havnt had it past 130 with the cheesecutters, but they feel just as stable.
thats with no front sway bar, it rolls a bit, but never feels like it would fall over, even when i miss a turn, to make it at the last moment...

i never said i COULD do 130 in a lifted lux. i want out from the lux cos it CANT hold a decent highway speed. those 4bs who were doing the 115-120.. 1 was a stocko prado, 1 was a 2inch liftd 80 series, 1 was a stocko rodeo. not lifted to the sky by anymeans.
sierra utes are hardly practical in a work sense are they?
much like a mighty boy being used by a tradie...

If going a hilux steer clear of the 2.4lt. My 22R sucks balls. Can't keep speed on the highway if there is a hill and chews the fuel. I run 33's on my bundera and can't wait to do an engine conversion.

depends on what you mean as a work ute. Many, many farmers swear by them for feeding livestock from. I used mine as my sign writing truck for a few years they will carry a surprising amount of weight, and they are an amazingly capable 4wd that many people who only own big trucks fail to understand
im a chippy, 2.4 metre Aframes and 3 metre sheets of flooring become and issue with small utes...
go the coilcab!

WRT to people saying Suzuki utes are not practicle for traddies, for some maybe not. But my father has been working out of a SWB sierra softop for over 5 years now, and it works fine for him (he fits doors, windows, screens etc). He cannot carry really big doors etc, but he has them delivered by truck anyway. Before he had the Sierra he had a Datsun 1200 ute, can't call the big either. He's now building a LN65 Hilux up, but not for the tray space, or any difference in 4wding style, its only for towing purposes.
Don't underestimate what you can fit into a Sierra, they are tiny, but it will surprise you.
Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.
