Hi all
Im pretty sure ive done a head gasket on my cruiser and i wanted to get everyones feed back on wether this is a task that could be done at home or is it better left to professional.
What would be a reasonable price to pay and what should be included?
your feedback would be greatly appericated
cheers Nick

1994 80 series 4.5 petrol on has done a headgasket help me

This is a hard one....it is common for them to go on the 4.5, when mine went, i started noticing a miss when cold, that would go away 10 seconds later....this was water being burnt that had seeped into the cylinder....if you are at that stage, a new gasket and head bolts, all aftermarket, will get you on the road again, do it yourself for $500 buy a manual off ebay if you need it.
Now, if you have overheated it or oil is milky, it is a head service your looking for, and they alone cost $400 plus reshimming the valves another 350, plus the 500 for gaskets and bolts, and if you cant do it yourself, another $500 in labour....dont kid yourself, it will take a lot of time to do yourself unless you have done a few before...there quite involved up around the top end and special spanners and a 3rd hand are required all over the place.
