NICK wrote:look at time he posted, you think the mod place would be open? do you get pinged by the mod plate guy?
Calm down man, "just got pinged" could mean different things to different people; not everyone races straight home and writes a post to outerlimits to tell us what happened in the last few minutes.
As I understand it body lift in Qld requires Qld Transport inspection no matter what, so I'd have thought that a roadside pull-over would have created problems no matter what the blocks were made of if they didn't have a mod plate.

This is not legal advice.
you cant get a mod plate for a body lift in queensland. for a body lift to be 100% approved you must send a letter to QldT showing the mod that you want to do, they will give you the go ahead, when the mod is done the letter must be stamped and signed but a transport officer not a mod plate bloke. 4x4 shops will try and spin you some crap about "we've done 50 of em mate so transport gave us the nod" which means we dont know anyone that has been booked so you'll be right and some people will fit a blue plate but transport will throw the book at the also.

at least people have some facts now..
they get you on anything else?
on ur tray the tails lights can not be more then 150mm from the outside edge
exhaust can not dump straight onto the road ... and must come out the rear .. or behind the cab on the RIGHT side ...
i can run 35" tyres on the road ...
with my tray being so short .. i have to put the tow bar back on or some thing .. dunno why ... he said if some one runs up the back of my car they'll go straight under it with there being no bar ... and they'll hit my fuel tank ... blah blah blah ..
sway bars have to be on ...
mud flaps have to be 300 off the ground?
and my brake fluid needed to be topped up lol ...

Thats what fucks me off most, some are told 1 thing, others the opposite.. Like 35's in Qld, and then the spotties etc....
I can see their point on the towbar if your tray is high up..
That with the 35s is just plain wrong isn't it? I mean, great if the rule has changed or something but I thought it was pretty definite that 35s aren't legal on basically anything in Qld since you can only go an inch bigger...
However, I'd love to find out that's not true!

Nick are your blocks alloy or steel? If not who the fuck are you and why are you any different to everyone else on the road?
Transport requires all body lifts to be steel or ally now.
The main reason 35" tires are illegal is the reduction in braking. Spring overs are illegal because you are increasing bump stop distance. You cannot fuck with bumpstops at all! Air bags are therefore pretty well always illegal. It costs into the 000's of $ for even the most modest of mods to be approved by transport after you submit full drawings, spring rates, ex-ray's of welds etc etc. There is no such thing as being legal cause you have an engineer cert in qld.
From the mouth of DOT officer/Blue plate dude
I have yet to find out whether or not if you got your body lift approved before the new laws in qld went thru that you still have to have ally or steel. ie take out nylon and replace with steel?
