Just put a new set of 33x12.5x15 BFG MTs on my short wheelbase Pajero.
Was told to run them on the road at 40psi but I reckon this is maybe too hard and will wear the centre faster.
There seems to be a definite roundness to the tread at this pressure. My thoughts were as this is only a SWB Paj and not a heavier Landcruiser or the like, I should be running a bit lower - say 36 or something? Any thoughts?

Well I wouldn't be running them at 40. Be pretty scary in the wet as well!
Shorty wouldn't be all that heavy so at cold pressure I would be running them around 34. Giving them 3-4 psi extra when they warm up.

I've have 33x12.5x15 Dunlop M/Ts on my SWB for a few years now and I run them at 35 PSI. It handles well and they're wearing very evenly.

Using the 4psi rule, I think 36psi is about right for my Paj. I was running 38psi for a while (dreaming about better fuel economy :lol: ) and the centres were definitely wearing more. So I'm back to 36 now.

With S/Ts, MT/Rs and STTs I've never had a problem in the wet - with the STTs, I haven't managed to spin them on wet bitumen when I've tried. The original Yokohamas were a different story...

i had mine at 38 i think, but went to 36.

you would be supprised how much a shorty actually weighs

Yep a fully optioned SWB like mine comes in just shy of 2 ton.

I run my tyres quite tight on the road (38-40) as I have no sway bars and there is alot of sidewall, therefore it is less rolly polly on the road. Tradeoff is the ride is a bit harsher, and probably grip isn't as good on the roadbut I don't push it. The are absolutely hopeless off road at 40psi thou :armsup:

I don't do enough kay's to worry about how they wear (12000km in 3 years) and have not noticed any untoward wearing.
