Opinions on air compressor

Post by Teg »

Hi all
Due to limited funds I am looking for a 12v air compressor kit for around the $200 mark.
I found this one: http://www.transquip.com.au/product.asp ... PARENT=419
on the web but have not heard of it, I did read on a forum about one person that had one and he was very happy with it but that was it. Seems they are Aussie made in Perth.
I purchased a $179 from Super Cheap and it lasted approx six times and a valve went (non repairable), Super Cheap didn't want to know about it even though it was only just out of warranty. As much as I hate the though of buying another cheapy I have no choice so any feedback and suggestions would be appreciated.

I got the new ABR compressor a while ago for $250. It took all off 2 hours to put in and so far has not missed a beat.

Terrain tamer do a good twin pump for around that price. PM me if you want to know exact pricing, i can do you a good price on one plus postage.
Also T'max but i think they're a tad dearer.

Is this the same compressor that they use in there kit (CKMP12), it looks the same, if it is I may be interested as I still have the hose and battery cables from my old compressor, maybe I could adapt them to fit.

The new ARB gets a very good rap. Get the new hoses, outlet temps are very high and will soften most hoses till they blow.

I don't own one, but have played and liked it. Much faster than my old ARB. When I tested years ago, old ARB was 2x faster than Super Crap $140 unit.

Yes good advise, something I never thought of.
Just realized the Hunter Valley 4x4 and camping show is on next month, thinking I might wait until then and see if I can get an ARB / Bushranger on special.
Thanks to all that responded.

i have the in-car mounted arb unit (new one) and it HAMMERS! pumped up each of my 31's from 10psi to 20psi in about 10 seconds... you could watch the tyre inflate.... compared to the $200 outside the car unit a mate had pumping up 30's... well, i got all 4 done and he'd just finished the first...

Thanks Alien, ARB seems the go for the money, may just have to bite the bullet and pull out the bank card.
