Blue Light Wander. New Event

Post by highrr »

Just for your Information of a New Event coming up.
The Blue Light Wonder is a new four wheel drive/navigation event, which will take place in late October this year in the Warburton area.
It will be run by the Victoria Police Four Wheel Drive club and open to members of other Four Wheel Drive Clubs only. There are no restrictions to vehicles only that they are road worthy.
The event will begin with a evening stage on Friday night and then a morning and afternoon stage on Saturday, with a morning stage only on Sunday, each stage will have hard and easy options followed by a BBQ and awards on Sunday afternoon.

sounds good. not sure about the hole 'must be road worthy bit' think my idea of roadworthy and 100 coppers idea may differ. but like the idea.

Sounds like it will be the weekenders competing... Somehow I dont think you big boys will be there... The likelyhood of yellow stickers appearing is prob pretty high

With heavly modded 4B's all in one place would make it easy to yellow sticker them up, a guy at work went to an "All American Custom Car Show" at the show grounds and the cops set up roadworthy check stations on all the exits at the end of the day and had a big blitz. ( Thats real crap ) On the other hand ive done the Blue Light Ride for years and all they have checked is headlight, taillight, muffler and Rego. The ride involves riding on public roads to access tracks and they allow it with no indicators and " not for highway" knobby tyres.

I have been pulled into 2 x RW checks lately in GQ - 35's, FAT Bar, Hi Mount, 4" +2" body, spotties, etc. They not once questioned the big tyres, big lift, drp boxes, etc.

They did check....

Spotties turned off with hi/low beam
Mud Flaps - they like mud flaps
Visibility of Number plates
Lights work
Rego current and drivers lic address current
No sharps on bull bar.
Flares cover tyres.
Noise

All good .. so far.

Count me in for the event. Lockee - wanna drive for me?

Just so very one is aware, this is an OFF DUTY event for us, and I can assure you that none of us are working off duty, we have given up our time to get this event going and hopefully keep it going, as like the blue light rally which is for motor bikes. You do not have to supply a road worthy nor will your car be looked at as long as it looks safe etc to compete then we are fair as we are out there to have fun

You might be off duty... what about the guys who set up down the road... has everyone forgotten the Wandin 4wd show? I think you need to be super prepared for the worst

I could be wrong but I doubt the Vic Police 4wd Club have anything at all to do with the Police force. It would just have started as a bunch of coppers who go 4wding and wanted to start a club (I aussume..?). I know of people in the club that arnt even cops (or never were). I recon you'd have just as much chance of getting defected at this event as any other.

But I do see how the name of the club throws some people off. Im definantly interested though.

navruns

Post by Hobzee »

We have had a few of your members do our Navruns and they are all top blokes - almost normal 4 wheelers I'd say.

It's natural we worry about RW items but this stuff pales to insignificance when they tell stories around the camp fire about a day in the life of a police officer .. glad it's them and not me.

They have my support no matter what state my rig's in. I'm in and it looks like Lockee drives - O my god. The cops will have to see this to believe it...

So far sounds the goods. Do you have more details highrr?
Cost of entry?
Single car or teams event?
Required equipment?
Type of Nav?
Catering?
Camping?
Contact details?

Still working out some of the details of the event, will have them finished by next month, but it will be catered for Saturday Breakfast, lunch and dinner, Sunday breakfast and BBQ lunch, camping will be provided showers toilets etc, it will a be single car event, and the Nav will be very much like the Nav runs currently ran.

I think its time you blokes get over yourselves. The VPFWDC is another four wheel drive club made up of members who enjoy the past time that so many other OL users do. Only difference it is made up of Vicpol members their families and friends and anyone else that submits an EOI or expresion of interest form and is accepted. Don't be scared off by the name of it, hell if you were scared or weary of anything because of the name you wouldn't drive a nissan would you. HeHe.

Any way sounds like it will be a good event. I'll be there to support the brothers in arms. Nothing stopping the from putting on a great show.
