Just bought a 96 coil cab and it goes great but the stick move around like a dick in a shirt sleeve. i'm told there is a plastic doover that the stick sits in and this wears. is this correct and whats it bloody called.

you need the gear shift lower bush and the gear shift retaining bush that goes in the top of the case and goes against the ball on the gear shift. also they wear the pins in the case check for looseness
wish list (lockers,lift,endless air,winch,bar,spotties,35s,paint job,turbo,18yrs old hottie

i just replaced my one like a month ago. pull your gearstick out and there is a small white bush/cup that should be on the bottom of the stick costs $130. from nissan....
also check the cover plate on top of the box to make sure that the locating pins on the gearstick top swivel bush havent chewed the alloy notchs out... they cost around$480 and there isnt a aftermarket sollution .

i agree a bit of friction is a good thing. helps give you a positive feel for what gear you're about to grind/slam.

Have never liked toyota boxes. they generally lack feel, are too liquid and if its an 80 series the teeth are bad news.
