Tornado Fuel Saver ?

Post by sickgm »

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anybody has had any experience with the Tornado Fuel Saver (Piece of metal that sits in your air flow thingy that helps air flow?)?

I just purchased a imitation model from ebay for $23.99. I thought it is worth giving it a try.....

Any thoughts?[/b]

None of them work.

My mate works at an emissions lab in Vic where all of these get tested in various vehicles on a dyno in controlled conditions and they do nothing for power or fuel saving.

One thing i noticed is that while at work in QLD there are a heap of adds on TV daily for Hyclones but nothing here in Vic????

That is what I have also heard, but i thought for under $25 delivered I might as well give it a go and the fuel consumption in my 4runner is starting to concern me!

As you can see - most people are skeptical of them - me included.

Still you have bought it so let us know how it goes - an honest assessment is better than our guesses.
( usual disclaimers )

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

I was skeptical until i saw the evidence so no longer skeptical as i know they do nothing! Unfortunately people will still buy them to just see if they work so the hiclone ppl can add another number to their sales. People may see a difference in economy as they start using less right foot but they would see that without it installed.

I agree - but he's got it so may as well try it out. I'm interested to see how much it affects its consumption - better OR worse.

how do these gimmicks get around the whole "truth in advertising" and "the product must perform as advertised" laws?

If it`s that simple to increase power and reduce fuel consumption

It would be standard out of the factory

Who's going to challenge them? There's no safety issue, nobody is likely to get hurt, people do actually receive something tangible (but not necessarily useful) for their money, and some people truly believe they work. Plus, the government receives GST for every one sold (plus (excise+GST) on every litre of fuel which ISN'T saved) so why would they care?

I guess it would come down to: no single person is ripped off enough to justify the hassle of shutting them down.

Thanks guys!

I tend to agree with you, I doubt that it will work but for $24 I am willing to find out.

I just don't understand how these people have legit websites with apparently legit testimonies on how great these products are????

the problem is that it's a blatant Hoax that preys on the fact some people will be too lazy or embarrased to send it back for a refund.

It only costs ~$4900 to do an ADR79/01 test at the ACART facility in Geelong ($2700 for the ADR + $2200 for the precondition) and this would prove their product without question!!! so why not do it!!!
because they don't work!!!

I'm not sure if the maker of the fuel saver paid for the test or if it was paid for by some1 or another company.

I still think they should not be able to advertise figures without proof. Now that petrol is so expensive these companies target ppl that are really strugling with running costs promising them the impossible!

Its like religion.......tell ppl something long enough and they will start to beleive without any proof!

oh I understand your point but you must be careful with the Religion analogy as if you knew anything about history you would know that what you said is flawed.

Perhaps the Tornado Fuel Saver might work better if you fitted an Energy Polarizer aswell?
