dash lights issue - not the flashing ones

dash lights issue - not the flashing ones
My dash lights are blowing a 15A fuse in the engine bay fuse box, which was hard to find as i don't read jap very well.
I have pulled the dash pod out cant see any issues there, next is to pull out centre part of console, heater/air con area.
Any known problems that could cause this - it doesn't happen straight away but happens within a week.

I had the same prob with one night. Took eternity to find the fuse (checked all under dash and only then went looking under the hood). Would check park and tail lights to see if they are casing the fuse to blow.jop wrote:Wife just drove off, noticed the parkers aren't working as well.
POCUK site says dash, tail and parkers are all on the same fuse.
Will check exterior lights tomoz.
JB hi fi fitted my new stereo about 8 months ago.
Have a new issue now - for the last couple of weeks about once a week the paj wont start, not even a click.
Thought it was the new immobiliser (fitted at the same time as stereo), spent a couple of hours checking battery, starter, fuses found nothing, got battery load tested - excellent.
Car starts when battery reconnected, figure this reset problem with immobiliser. took it down to JB's, they couldn't find anything, got them to bridge out fuel and ignition cut to prove it wasn't the problem.
That was last week, this morning wifey drives kids to school, gets back to car, won't start.
She disconnected the battery, reconected - starts
Thinking i may have a computer problem?

Ok, i found a short in the wiring to the right tail lights - sorted.
Hasn't done the not starting thing since last post and short was fixed two weeks ago.
Yesterday car starts as normal in the morning, that afternoon, nothing, not even a flicker.
Put meter on battery - 13v
turn key to access. - 10v
turn key to on - 8v
Pulled dash, console apart - nothing
New battery is next, this one is less than a year old
( removed stereo and immobiliser )

with voltage readings like that, Have you tried new leads? I know when I have been playing around with my battery and put it abck on, sometimes everything works brilliantly, lights etc and voltmeter in dash says 12 v, activate starter and click, voltage dies away to about 8.
Fiddle with terminals and away it goes.
And other times it still won't go. For me it is a dodgy earth lead where it goes into the female terminal where the lead is cast around the lead. I am going to replace it with a better one one day.
Maybe worth a shot?

Yes, the more I think about it, the more likely it is to be. It was really frustraiting when it did it the 1st time as a jump start still wouldn't fix the problem when I thought I was running low on go go juice.
Then one time I saw a wisp of smoke come from the earth lead and so solved the problem for me then and there.
