Help needed for new comer to the site.

Post by david123 »

G'day All,
New here so, me first post.

I got a 86 zook, 6" lift, baja claws on 15x31`s, extractors an a 2" exhaust, and a webber carb, goes very well.

Ive not long had the webber.

Problem is the webber, its a great carb, but when im playin an she has her nose way up in the air, stalls, an as I say she is unbeatable, I have to get this fixed before im busted with me nose up n goin nowhere.

Any ideas.

Also is there after market gears that I can get for my gearbox, far too biga jump between 1 an 2, rev the crap in first n then upchange n she falls off the cam.

I have looked at the webber thread, more about jetting and running lean than flooding at extreem up angles.

Will look further but what I read did not answer my question.

In low range its fine, 3rd and 4th, but high range, which is a lot of what I do, sandhillin, its a bit so so, with such a short wheelbase second is often too fast to get into power, first is too slow.

I love gion in 2wd as my lil zook will go places no other 4wd will, and they are in 4wd while im in 2wd, they hate it, I am lovin it.

May have to look into diff ratios. Darnit.

How extreme angles are we talking, remember that due to its design, a carby will not work well on angles, once it gets too much the fuel will either overflow the breather and flood the motor, or rush away from the jets. It is possible to turn the webers around, so that they lean out on downhill, and then extend the float bowl breather so they get a bit better uphill. But IMHO, look into injection if you like angles. With a TPI vitara setup, its not very complicated.

I love goin where others cannot, up razor backs of sandhills, need lots to do it, and get over, 40 plus degrees.

Never had the prob with the standard carb, she could sometimes do it, this carb gives me the power to do it, but fails thru flooding.

Looked at injection, but my lil girl cost me $750, an I've spent over 8k on her so far, how far do i go.

Maybe I got the wrong carby.

Yep, you've gopt the wrong carby, actually, the problem is you have a carby.

Carbies are gravity fed devices to a certain extent. it's not possible to make them 100% immune to angles. I won't try and trouble shoot your problem, I try and stay away from carbies, but you will eventually end up injected because carbies suck.

Its is possible to put recaros in a sierra, but they will be a very tight fit. Which dealer were you talking to, and did you take the car to them to have it looked at?

I will chase the webber man, thank you.

As to seats, and why I have probs, I live in a village of 450 people, not many specialists here, nor many who own zooks, or um, anyone in fact. I rang a dearler in Adelaide, 8 hour drive in my Statseman, beautiful car, 320kw, but no zook.

Its hard livin in a very small town, but as we are surrounded on 3 sides by national park, the 4wding, well, extreem, an only a very short few Ks away.
