GU interior paint code

Post by G-Unit »

Pretty much gutted the inside of my wagon out, and I'm looking to repaint the interior like the dashboard, centre console, kick panels and so forth.

The ID plate on the firewall says Colour/Trim = QM1 K

I have a feeling this relates to the outer paint (white in my case) and the K could be the black trims.

So, does anyone know the actual paint colour code for the grey interior?

Many thanks in advance.

Go to a smash repair shop with a piece of your interior. The trim colour codes aren't usually worth a pinch of shit.

You could also get the correct plastic adhesion promoters, cleaners and tips on how not to stuff it up. It's a totally different preperation and procedures as to painting metal. If not done properly it delaninates very quickly.

You would probably find it would work out cheaper though just to get them to do it. By the time you buy all the materials to do it etc.

BTW QM1 is the colour code for the white on your 4wd and K is possably the trim code but there never very close.

I have all paint formulars on my Computer as i'm a painter.

I searched K for you and it came up with over 20 varients of that trim colour that it could be. Don't forget that there's sereral different trim colours in each car so you will definently have to take the trim to a panel shop or paint suppiers shop to get the right colour.

a paint shop gave me a rough estimate at $50 to paint my pod.

i bought an aerosol of "plastic primer" from supercheap and the above tin of paint (from any paint shop) for about $15. a couple of coats of primer and thinned the paint with water and must have put about 20 coats on ((air spray gun)cause i could :D...and to build the thickness up a bit) and it looks great.

its not a piece of plastic that gets a lot of "traffic" so to speak, so wearing the paint off shouldnt be an issue....mine as been on for 12 months and had no problems. it was handled roughly trying to put the gauges in.
