NEW Mazda BT-50 4x4 3.0TD
Hi Guys,
I have just purchased a new single cab chassis 4x4. A Mazda BT-50 3L TD. It has been great so far. Have already fitted some sunraysias and tinted the windows. Has made a great car so much better.
The only trouble I have is that my gearbox/clutch is a bit too notchy for my liking. I am hoping to have this fixed during my first service in the next week or so.
Otherwise it is great. Goes like a rocket and my mates can't believe its a diesel.
Does anyone else have one? Know where to get some aftermarket parts?
cheers
Sadiq

60 series cruiser, GU patrol
I know what you mean about good diesel. First tank after the dealers and I put in some crazy independant one adn it was full of water! had to empty the water trap 7 or 8 times on the one tank! Runs sweet on the highway and just had the first service. Need to do some more k's before it is a bit more worn in though i guess.

Sirzooky and Vorno-18,
I'm also on the gold coast and own a ranger crew cab, if you guys ever want to get together and do some off roading i'd be more than happy to come along. Haven't got to use the truck much since I bought it
Have either of you done much with your BT's, and if so, how did they go.
Jayde

Hi mate,
Would be great, need to fit some sliders first and then am keen to go out. I have been on the sand on a few soft tracks near fingal but that is all. Goes gr8 but would be even better if I had aired down.
Chat to you soon mate.

Hey Guys, I just picked up my bt-50 a few weeks ago. I just come back from Double island point the weekend just gone, and i must say they are fantastic on the sand. I too am looking to start the modifications on the ute. Iv gone and priced up an ARB bullbar, and almost fallen over. It was going to be a little over the 2g mark for them to supply and fit. Im not sure how negotiable on price they're going to be but has anyone else gone and had one fitted and managed to get a better price?
Anyway, if you guys plan on doing a group run, let me know as i would be very interested.
Sirzooky, have you got a picture available of yours with the sunraysias on? I would be interested to see how it looks.
Cheers

Hey Gemtec,
I had mine over on north straddie before easter and never had any dramas either, had to snatch my mates vitara a couple of times though.
I was looking at the ironman bar, but another ranger owner said he wasn't that impressed, he said the wings moved too much, $1200 for a winch bar sounded good though.
TJM said they could do a type 3, which is similar to an ARB sahara, i'm going to look into it further.
As for a run, i was thinking about trying to get a ranger, BT-50, bravo and courier day happening, i think it'd be good to compare vehicles of the same nature.
Would you guys be keen for a run on friday, thinking crystal creek or cityview.
Jayde

Hey we just picked up our BT50 Dual cab 3.0lt td TOTR in titanium on thurs 24th.
We drove to Chinchilla rounded up cattle in it shot a few roos VERY impressed with its capabilities. We did a lot of research into vehicles of the same size and none compared to the BT. How cumfy are they. We will find out how good on fuel they are this weekend...going to Newcastle.

gone are the days when you could just whip the bumper off and slap on a bar. the arb is very well designed but alot of people don't relise it takes up to a full day to fit. as you have noticed the bt 50 and ranger have a one piece bumper grill arrangement, which means lots of precise cutting to fit a bar. there are other cheaper ones on the market but they aint the best looking. and when shopping for bars check out some of the welds on the cheaper brands...you will be surprised.GEMTEC wrote:Hey Guys, I just picked up my bt-50 a few weeks ago. Hi everyone,
Funny that, I own a coily too and am about to buy a double cab Mazda BT-50. I should get it next week some time and I can't wait !
Speaking of which, does anyone know what the trasfer case ratios are on these? I can't seem to find any info anywhere about the T/case.
cheers and thanks,

Yeah mate, tried the BT-50 off-road last weekend while hunting on a private property and I can say I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it made it look. What the Mazda's got over the Triton is the size of the suspension components, particularly the shocks which are twice as big as the Mitsubishi's. Also, the front end sits a lot higher than a Hilux ever will and everything is pretty well protected with numerous bash plates. In typical ute fashion, the back end is a bit stiff so a bit of weight in the tray helps but overall I was pretty impressed with the performance. Low range ratio could be a bit shorter (I drive a manual) for the really hard stuff but only in extreme situations.
No idea about the Colorado as we don't get it here.
Hope this helps, good luck with your choice

Mazda BT50 2008 Freestyle 4WD, has anyone had problem of on corrugated roads the rear dances around and makes dangerous. Rear springs to hard, has anyone tried softer but not higher rear springs or solved problem in other ways.
(not putting Bags of cement in back)Tray is rarly loaded so any ides would be great

I read on a forum where a guy had removed one of the rear leafs from the leaf pack (it would most likely have been the shortest in the main pack.) He said the ride was improved.
It's fairly easy to do as well, I did it on my old Feroza. The hardest bit is opening up the metal clamps they tend to put around the whole leaf pack. If you're lucky they will already be left open at the top and not folded over.
