80 series auto model numbers and problems

Post by jsttry »

Just trying to work out what auto I have. Car is a 1991 80 series VX Sahara with 1HD-T and 4spd auto. It has no power/overdrive buttons, just L,2,3,D. Not sure if its a A440F or A442F or something else.

Driving home this evening after checking the pump was dialed in and found it flared between 2-3 and there was a shudder at take off under moderate acceleration. The convertor lockup at around 75km/hr used to have a thud to it but its no longer there.

Wondering if its worth having it pulled out and serviced and what that is generally worth, or if its better to just get a new box.

Think I may have answered it. Build plate says A442F

Also found the cable was off from the throttle assembly. Reattached and will see if that fixes it tomorrow
