Hydro assist on patrol

Post by Nelso »

Can people post up pictures of where you have tapped a Patrol steering box. I have an idea where to drill and tap but just want to be 100% sure 'cause I'm paranoid about farking it up.

sorry cant get to the truck till over the w'end, but the same principles apply!!!! the powerhead (the bit at the front that diverts fluid) has 2 outputs. 1 is a hole which applies pressure directly to the piston (front face of the cavity) and the other goes through an internal port to the back of the piston (comes out near the sector shaft cavity) .#1 is on the top about ~10 from the powerhead bolting face, #2 can be anywhere around the sector shaft cavity or at the rear of the 'drive' main cavity (the end of the barrel, in cylinder terms). Hope this helps!!!

ps, i hope to be doing some nissan pump flow testing in the next few weeks, so that i can work out how to trick them right up!!! i will let you know how we go!!

Every extra bit of info I read helps!! I would still like to see one done first before I go to town with the drill though, just to ease my mind. If you could get a couple of pics whenever you do get to the car that would be awesome and I am very interested to find out about the pump mods so can't wait for your report on that.

Still got to buy the ram and hoses yet so there is no hurry. I'm just sussing out whether I am better off importing a kit or if someone can do them for a reasonable price over here.

That would be great, thanks Bartso. If I was thinking straight I should have stuck my head under your guard last weekend and had a look. :?
