Jonny Joint durabity?

Post by Cliffy »

Jonny Joint/orbit eyes/bollocks...........

These things have been around for quite a while now, how are people finding them;

Do the cups wear out in a month or a year.

Have you installed them on a daily driver, weekend warrior?

What sort of maintenance have you given them daily, weekly, monthly?

And what ones are the best, jonny joint (retained by circlips) or the other type (retained buy adjustable/threaded retainers)

Post up your experieneces, cos there is nothing on here?

I ran the Rubicon Express ones for about three years with no troubles. I would grease them once a month. When I took them apart I didn't see any wear. These are on a trail rig only and have an adjustable retainer.
I now run the T-G Creeper Joint, very similar to the Currie Joint. I've been running those for about a year with no troubles. I grease them once a month. I haven't taken them apart to look at them but everything is still tight. These are retained with a C Clip.

Jason I had a look at your sight last night, you have changed the layout. Do you or can you still get weld in joints? and are the cups available as a replacement part. looking to use these on a comp vehicle.

Yes we can get weld in joints.
On the axle end of my links I use a 1 1/4"x12, with a 1" ID heim and with the high misalignment spacers installed it bring the ID down to 3/4". My vendor says he is getting 38 degree's of misalignment with that heim and high misalignment spacer. I don't know about that number because I haven't checked but I can tell you the heim with the high misalignment spacers has more deflection then any of the Currie/Rubicon Express joints I've run. I've also never broken a joint from over extending it.
