Samurai carb? problem

Post by HedgeBoar »

This is an issue I'm having with my '89 samurai.... standard carb. etc.

Runs fine normally; However, after driving at speed (~100km/h) for a while something goes wrong. It will run OK at full throttle, but at any other throttle setting it is basically dead. It will still Idle ok.

If I pull over and let it idle for a few minutes it seems to come right.

Any ideas?

Mine does the same thing. Only on really cold mornings/nights and only 100km/h+ speeds. I pull over for a min an its back to normal again. The cold must freeze up the carb in some way. I now have a snorkel and that warm air hose that runs from the exhaust header to the air cleaner box is gone. This is what started the problem.

Thats what i was thinking, carby is icing up. If you still have the facilities to hook the exhaust hot air tube up, do so.
