Difference between Ls2 297 and Ls2 307kw

Post by bru21 »

Buying a new motor and the 307kw is $400 more.

assuming ve is 297 and ve is 307

what is the actual difference.

I will be going for a mafless tune so are they any different after a tune.

Actual difference is 10 kW power and roughly the same in torque. :D

Honestly I don't think there is too much difference, VE 307kw slightly better with emissions maybe? And a slight *claimed* improvement in fuel economy.

What truck is this going into??? the suzuki??
just remember if this is a outback challenge truck you will have an electronic throttle pedal that could be affected by water.
and you can not run it with a cable throttle AFAIK, without going to aftermarket ECU.

Simple. Wire it for WOT only, and drive accordingly. :)

yeah thanks. Not for obc truck. will be using 90mm throttle body and ls1 computer. $850 for ls2 computer. the throtte by wire unit is only $99 though. you could always remote mount the pedal assembly and have a cable feeding it.

cheers bru

EDIT FIX TYPO'S

The L76 isn't the best for the conversion as there is lots of hard to get parts ie plug for ecu
If its a LS2 you can use a LS1 computer which is far better
just some of the info I've found out

I think it would be a L76 if it came from Holden, the HSV's used the LS2 and did in the VE as well, but I think they have now moved to the LS3.

its not an L76 they have active fuel management, ls7 style heads etc etc.

It is an ls2, they have just come down in price.

ls2 has hotter cam, more compression etc. its the hsv 297 motor from a vz.

cheers all
